Keeping The Kids Occupied During Winter

Keeping The Kids Occupied During Winter

.
We find ourselves once again stuck inside for the foreseeable future! But hey, we’ve done it once and we can make it through it again. So we’re here once again to give you some handy tips and ideas to liven things up a wee bit during this cold cold winter!
.
If you’re brave enough to venture into the freezing cold, we’ll start out with some outdoor activities.
.
Winter Picnic
You’d better grab the thermos for this one! This is one of these new and rather trendy ideas. It’s at its core a garden picnic but with hot food to keep you nice and warm! Hot chocolate for the kids, soup, tea, coffee along with things like hot sausage rolls and toasties. Wrap up warm and have a nice afternoon outside!

.
Be A Friend To Wildlife
With less and less people going about you might be hearing a lot more birdsong, and in the evening you might go out to find a family of hedgehogs running about the garden. Why not make the birds a feeder? Or put out some food for hedgehogs? For the birds, you and the kids could make a homemade feeder. You can find a good method at the link here
.
With hedgehogs, you can feed them meat based dog food. Keep the kids up late and if you’re lucky to have hedgehogs in the garden, leave out food and try and spot them having a wee feast!

.
Walk Somewhere New
The best thing to do is make sure you and your family are still keeping fit and healthy. Staying within 5 miles of the house, try and find some new places to walk. There’s always somewhere undiscovered to find and it might just become your new favourite spot!
.
.
Now I think its time to head inside!
.
Build a Fort
If you feel like having a good bit of fun, you and the kids can use pillows, sofa cushions bedsheets, anything to make a great hidey-hole. Under the covers, you can watch films in the dark, read or play games. These are great fun!
.
.
Rock painting
A favourite amongst many kids during the first lockdown last year. Get the paints out, grab some big stones from the garden or on a walk and go wild. Get the kids to paint things like rainbows or their favourite characters on them! Put them on the windowsill or even on your favourite walking routes for others to see.
.
.
Drive In Movies
After Christmas we may well still have plenty of big boxes and one use for them could me making a cardboard car! Make something as close as a car as you can for the kiddes, put the lights off and pop them with their new cars in front of the telly! Grab the snacks and watch away!
.
.
Don’t be afraid to get mega creative! feel free to send us a photo of you and the family tying any of these ideas! Being stuck inside can be right rubbish but with a bit of patience we’ll be on the other side of this sooner than we know! If you’d like to shop kids gifts then click the link here!
