A proud surname that has a particular resonance with Scotland, ‘Andrews’ derives through reverence for the disciple of Jesus who became the nation’s patron saint.

Although first found in Caithness, at some stage in the twelfth century some bearers of the name re-settled much further south in Dumfriesshire and subsequently from there to Northern Ireland.
