A name first found in the Scottish Borders but also with a presence further northeast in Edinburgh, ‘Trotter’ features prominently in the frequently turbulent historical record.

While some became notorious as hard-riding reivers, or raiders, others gained fame and distinction through a range of morepeaceful endeavours and pursuits including medicine, the stage and music.
